How I Became an eCommerce Lawyer I spent the past 25 years in the civil litigation trenches of Los Angeles. I thought I saw it all…until some of my garment industry clients asked me for help to defeat Chinese knock-offs on Amazon. Because resort to judicial process is rarely an option, I learned to navigate the “Wild West” of the Amazon ecosystem and implement solutions outside of that system.
Demand grew for my unique skill set. So in 2014, I started the Ted Luymes Law Firm to serve the eCommerce community. My clients often tell me that their own lawyer did not understand their needs. Most of my clients want professional help to remove a rogue seller that has hijacked an Amazon listing. Others have trademark or copyright infringement problems. I also help sellers write more effective appeals if their seller privileges are suspended. Amazon sellers are small business owners and they sometimes need the services of a conventional attorney. If I can’t help, I will point them in the right direction.
Amazon has its own judicial system. It’s not enough to know the law – you must also know Amazon’s rules and how they are applied in actual practice. I enjoy working within the Amazon and eCommerce communities and look forward to helping you be successful.
Do you work on other eCommerce sites besides Amazon.com? Definitely. I have done enforcement work within many of Amazon’s international sites, including Canada, UK, Germany, France, India, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. I have extensive experience doing brand enforcement on eBay, Alibaba, Aliexpress, Wish, and many other eCommerce platforms and payment systems worldwide. I also remove copyrighted works (photos, recordings, text, and graphics) from the internet wherever they appear.
Do you do other kinds of legal work? Yes! I am licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of California (State Bar No. 150351). Counseling businesses and litigation remain a big part of my legal practice, including personal injury and wrongful death cases, business disputes, collections, intellectual property, and internet law. I have a vast network of resources. If I can’t help you, I will refer you to someone who can.
